Description

Scare up the winning bid, to take home this 1960s Casper the Friendly Ghost animation cel and sketch set lot of (4). A staple of the entertainment industry since the WWII era, all this blub-headed little spook ever wanted to do was make friends, making him the perfect foil to his frequent adult ghost co-stars, who were hell bent on scaring the living to death.

Here Casper goes through his paces, in this generally well-preserved collection of original production cels from the 1963-1970 ABC television animated series "The New Casper Cartoon Show". While light to moderate signs of wear are noted, this can readily be expected of vintage materials of such age, though with deference to a single exception this selection is really very attractive. Each illustration set consists of one or more animation cel panes and their corresponding paper sketch drawing pages. Some cels are of just a single small element, such as a mouth or eyes, while others are more substantial renderings, and together they form frame sequences. For counting purposes each series of cels and sketches for a particular cartoon are counted as one set, regardless of the number of components involved.

Featured are:

Episode 5 "Bedtime Trouble" (1) set with (1) cel pane and (1) paper page;

Episode 15 "Super Spooks" (1) set with (30) cel panes and (30) paper pages, all adding up to a handshake scene between Casper and a muscular ghost;

Episode 18 "The Enchanted Prince" (1) set with (13) cel panes and (13) paper pages of Casper walking through a wall, one cel has a bend at top left that does not affect the image;

Episode 20 "The Magic Touch" (1) set with (5) cel panes and (3) paper pages, with Casper falling backwards;
