The Avengers founding members Iron Man, Thor, Hulk, Ant-Man, Wasp, and Captain America have long dominated the ranks of super-heroes who have been part of the team at one point or another. The first new wave came in 1965, when Hawkeye, Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver joined up. This trio all began as super-villains, and they never equaled their predecessors in comic book sales or fan popularity. Thanks to the Marvel Cinematic Universe and several Disney+ streaming series, they have finally achieved front rank status, and their earliest back issues are in big demand. It doesn't get much bigger for these heroes, than this 1965 The Avengers #16, which is the issue that saw Hawkeye, Scarlet Witch, and Quicksilver become Avengers. A nicely preserved example, this nearly sixty-year-old comic book has earned a very pleasing grade of (8.5, Off-White to White Pages) from leading certification service CGC. Famous comic creators Stan Lee, Jack Kirby, Dick Ayers, and Sol Brodsky did the writing and artwork for this important issue.
