The Big Train is of course the main attraction here. But teammate Pat Flaherty is nearly as interesting—even though he never officially appeared in a major-league game! Flaherty did suit up and spend time in big-league bullpens during spring training and beyond. However, he's better known for having played in the NFL as well as transitioning to a Hollywood career of 250 movie appearances in classics such as The Babe Ruth Story, Mutiny on the Bounty and Grapes of Wrath. All the while, Flaherty hobnobbed with the greatest celebrities of his era. He occupies the north panel, along with Ossie Bluege and George Uhle, on this darkly toned and scuffed ball. Johnson ("6" signature) resides on the east panel with George Case. Joe Judge has the sweet spot above a noticeable split along the border of the stitching. Clyde Milan is also present. The south panel exhibits heavier wear from long-term storage/display. The 10 visible signatures average "5-6" strength, and there are additional fainter examples. Full LOA from BAS.
