Poor Mickey Owen. After a solid rookie campaign helping to lead his Dodgers to the NL pennant, Owen made one of the greatest gaffes in World Series history. He let the game-winning strike pass right by him and neglected to throw out batter Tommy Henrich at first. Thus the Yankees stayed alive and eventually came out on top, turning what could have been a tie at 2 games apiece into a dominant Yankee lead at 3 games to 1. This creamy-white OAL (Brown) ball features matching blue-ink "9" sweet-spot signatures of the historically intertwined duo. Auction LOA from JSA.
