For over half a century, the three most popular players in the game, on and off the field, were named DiMaggio, Williams and Mantle. Anyone who watched them play could easily see their greatness. In the sports memorabilia industry, these three giants of the game are as close to nirvana as one can achieve for modern autograph collecting. Presented is a monumental piece of legendry lumber, a 1968 Oakland Athletics Joe DiMaggio game-used coach’s bat that has been signed by DiMaggio, Mantle and Williams. The game-used relic is a Hillerich & Bradsby Louisville Slugger model D29L measuring 36” and currently weighting 33-ounces. This beautiful turned white ash bat originally weighted 37-ounces but has lost some of the weight over the years due to water loss, well within the parameters for vintage game-used baseball bats. The knob features the D29L model number pressed into the handle’s end along with #5 in green marker, which is consistent with DiMaggio during his two-year stint as a coach with the Athletics. There is light evidence of usage along with bat rack markings. The three signatures are all on the barrel of this magnificent treasure with DiMaggio (d.1999, “7”) beneath the model insignia in black marker, Williams (d.2002, “7”) in blue marker below the DiMaggio and Mantle (d.1995, “7”) in blue marker above the model insignia. Consistent with all Louisville Slugger records from the 1968 season, this DiMaggio bat was one of only six ordered for the exalted slugger and most likely the only known game-used bat for DiMaggio that has been signed by these three titans. The bat comes with full letters of authenticity from both PSA and JSA.
