Description

In the melodrama that is the game of baseball, there was only one way for the Boston Red Sox to reverse the curse and that was to come back from a 0-3 deficit to beat the New York Yankees before winning the World Series. The four-game sweep of the St Louis Cardinals was almost an afterthought because beating the Yankees is what really matters to the dedicated Sox fan. Presented is a game-used baseball from Game 1 of the 2004 ALCS. The Yankees took the game 10-7 beating Curt Schilling who injured his ankle (though we would hear from Schilling again in Game 6). The OML baseball features twenty-eight Boston Red Sox signatures spread out on the ball with manager Terry Francona on the sweet spot. The players and coaches include Embree, Mills, Arroyo, Leskanic, Schilling, Sveum, Roberts, Wallace, Ortiz, Mientkiewicz, Mirabelli, Kapler, Varitek, Damon, Foulke, Millar, Jones, Ramirez, Bellhorn, Myers, Martinez, Jackson, Wakefield, Nixon and Youkilis (signed twice) plus team president Theo Epstein. The signatures were penned in blue ink and grade in the (8-9) range with the baseball showing mild game use and the patented Delaware River mud rub. This fantastic relic comes with a COA from Steiner.
