Description

Presented are three autographed items from three distinct stalwarts of their sports. Included are 1.) Rogers Hornsby (d.1963, “9”) black ink cut signature framed to the overall dimensions of 12x15 with a third generation photograph; 2.) Joe Louis (d.1981, “8”) blue ink cut signature framed to the overall dimensions of 13-1/2” x 17” with a third generation photograph; 3.) Gil Hodges (d.1972, "7”) signed letter with a five line notation in Hodges’ hand. The letter, circa 1963, is on Rheingold Beer stationary and was sent to Hodges from a fan asking him how many positions he played in the majors. Hodges answered the fan, ”I have played every position except shortstop and pitcher in the major leagues. I don’t know why I missed these two positions but it was wonderful just to be playing. Sincerely – Gil Hodges.” The letter has been framed to the overall dimensions of 16x20 and has a 1950s Brooklyn Dodgers team-issued photo to the left of the letter. COA from James Spence Authentications.
