Description

The American Civil War was a barbarous, bloody conflict that was the most deadly conflict the United States has ever fought. The all-American affair tore this country apart only to allow us to rebuild the country under better circumstances. In 1962, Topps produced the Civil War News set to chronicle the conflict. The incredible cards feature illustrations of single events, battles, and important men and were originally regarded as much as an educational tool as a collectible card. This fantastic collection includes both the American and British versions of the 88-card set, a stack of Confederate money and wrappers for each series. The complete American version is in EX to NM-MT condition with (58) SGC graded examples. With (7) SGC 88, (5) SGC 86 and (19) SGC 84 cards, this set is in high-grade with nearly all remaining singles, money and the wrapper grading VG-EX or better. The smaller 88-card British version set is generally in EX to EX-MT condition with the most common flaw being the centering. There are (17) pieces of American version money as well as (15) examples of the British money with all denomination present. There are three wrappers: (1) American (EX) and (2) different British (EX, EX-MT) examples. This sentimental set reminds us of the mistakes of our past so that we do not repeat them.
