Flash Gordon, the legendary Yale graduate and world renowned polo player, is beautifully depicted on this Sunday paper comic strip original artwork dated to August 14, 1960. The strip published by King Features Syndicate is especially noteworthy given the last illustration ominously pictures Gordon unknowingly as the target of an enemy firearm. The pencil and ink illustration displays editorís marks, intricate shadowing and the stunning detail always associated with works of illustrator Mac Raboy (d.1967). The artwork measures 16x20, has been neatly framed and matted to overall dimensions of 30x24 and features a signature from Raboy on the bottom right corner ("8", though partially obscured by the mat). A-one-of-a-kind specimen ideal for the collector looking to pay homage to the Silver Era of American comics.
