The crowning achievement of revered Notre Dame coach Dan Devine was the 1977 season, in which his Fightin' Irish would go (11-1) en route to the school’s tenth recognized National Championship. Presented is a stunning Notre Dame 1977 National Champions team-signed football from this legendary season, penned by an amazing (60) members of this championship squad. The signatures range from ("6-9") with the average signature grading a strong ("8"). The ball is highlighted by signatures from coach Dan Devine (d.2002, "8"), NFL Pro-Bowler Bob Golic ("7") and a very early example of the incomparable comeback kid Joe Montana ("8"). Additional highlights include signatures from quarterbacks Forystek and Lisch, as well as Beck, Bradley, Browner, Dover, Eurick, Fry, Gibbons, Hart, Heavens, Huffman, Hughes, P. Johnson, Knott, Leon, Leopold, Mitchell, Orsini and many more. Despite slight flattening and a light ring of toning on the south panel the football remains incredibly impressive and is likely one of the earliest Montana signatures that has surfaced in years.
