Richard Milhous Nixon is one of the more polarizing political figures of the past half-century. Whether we discuss the Vietnam War, relations with China or Watergate, President Nixon’s name is in the foreground. Presented is a single-signed baseball personalized to Walter “Boom Boom” Beck by then Vice President Nixon. This rare signature was scripture in blue ink on the side panel to the left of the sweet spot and reads, ”Best Wishes to Walter, Dick Nixon”. The blue ink has been slightly absorbed and displays a pink hue as well as the blue ink, grading an (“8”) in strength and (“7”) in clarity. The vintage Reach OAL William Harridge baseball has a thin layer of shellac and displays mild toning with an overall grade of (“7-8”). The baseball also features a secondary blue ink inscription ”Griffith Stadium, 1959” on the south panel dating the ball. As an added bonus, the original Reach baseball box is in (VG) condition with VP Dick Nixon, Griffith Stadium, 1959 neatly scrolled on the side panel. Presumably signed on the same day as the Eisenhower-signed baseball, this sphere is an absolutely beautiful artifact for those who admire “Tricky Dicky” and even those who do not. COA from James Spence Authentications.
