From 1987-1989 renowned sports artist Dick Perez produced the “celebration” postcard series as a way for collectors to secure autographs from (44) living members of the Baseball Hall of Fame. Between its artistic conception and actual release in 1989, Lefty Gomez, Judy Johnson and Bill Terry passed away, making an autographed set complete at (41) cards. Offered is a 1989 Perez-Steele Celebration autographed and framed near set of (39/41) postcards. Each of the cards is signed in blue or black ink and grade in the (“9-10”) range. Included are Aaron, Aparicio, Banks, Bell (d.1991), Bench, Berra, Boudreau (d.2001), Chandler (d.1991), Dandridge (d.1994), Dickey (d.1993), Doerr, Ferrell (d.1995), Gehringer (d.1993), Herman (d.1992), Hunter (d.1999), Irvin, Kaline, Kell, Killebrew, Kiner, Lemon (d.2000), B. Leonard (d.1997), Lopez (d.2005), Mantle (d.1995), Marichal, E. Mathews (d.2001), McCovey, Mize (d.1993), Musial, Reese (d.1999), B. Robinson, Sewell (d.1990), Slaughter (d.2002), Snider, Spahn (d.2003), Stargell (d.2001), B. Williams, T. Williams and Yastrzemski. These autographed postcards are housed in an immaculate 39x47 wood frame. Each of the included 45 postcards (41 signed, 3 unsigned and checklist) shines through the individual custom double-matting. Missing only signed cards from Campanella and Conlan for completion, this gathering of autographs is an impressive enterprise. The signatures on these cards come with a COA from James Spence Authentications. Due to the size/volume of this framed piece, shipping may be substantial.
