From 1934-1936 the National Chicle Company of Cambridge, Massachusetts issued the Diamond Stars series. Representing some of the most notable figures from baseball, these multi-colored cards were fashioned in a colorful art-deco mode and came with two back variations. This attractive 1934-1936 National Chicle Diamond Stars grouping of (27) cards presents in mid- to high-grade. Highlighted by (5) Hall of Famers and a pair of very difficult high numbers, the average grade of this assembly is (EX/EX-MT) with some better and others lesser. A total of (21) cards have green backs while another (6) exhibit the more difficult blue reverses. Included are Diamond Star Key Cards: #1 Grove (VG), #16 L. Waner (VG-EX), #17 Frisch (EX/EX-MT), #63 T. Jackson (NM), #74 Lazzeri (GD-VG), #88 Selkirk (VG-EX), #94 W. Ferrell (EX/EX-MT); Diamond Star Numbers: (20 cards, average EX/EX-MT); (2) #4, 5, 8, 10, 12, 15, 19, 22, 25, 29, 33, 62, 65, 67, 71-73. 79 and 82. Relatively free of creases, back damage or other major wear, this significant group is a worthy start toward this attractive R series set.
