When A.J. Reach produced the “Mushroom” bat in the early 1900s, it was noted that the model had attributes which “emphasized quality, balance and the knob arrangement at the end of the bat.” This innovation better enabled the pre-war batter to achieve a distribution of weight over the entire length of the bat. Offered is an approximately 32oz./34” Reach Mushroom No. 80 model baseball bat. This “dead ball” relic with an elongated mushroom handle and period wood script stamping is (EX) with moderate nicks and wood abrasions. The model stamp bares the lion’s share of wear with multiple light surface contusions. However, the light brown bat still has a nice appearance and is an interesting remembrance from a bygone era of baseball.
