While securing examples from the 1909-1911 T206 White Border set is a relatively common endeavor, obtaining unique examples from “The Monster” is always a difficult task. These 1909-1911 T206 autographed cards from Fred Snodgrass and Nap Rucker add a distinct “personal touch” to this beloved set. Being that this series is approaching the century mark in age, and that the last living player passed in 1980, signed T206 examples are nearly impossible to locate. Each autographed relic has been evaluated by third-party authenticator James Spence Authentications and encapsulated as “authentic”. The 1909-1911 T206 Snodgrass (d.1974) exhibits a more difficult Polar Bear backing with the blue signature grading a (“6”). An endorsed T206 from pre-war pitching ace Nap Rucker is also present. Signed on the Piedmont reverse in period pencil, the etching for Rucker (d.1970) grades an (“8”). While less than ten signed Snodgrass examples are known, the Rucker is the only signed T206 of the pitcher known at this time. Although both cards are off-grade, the technical flaws seem almost insignificant in comparison to the grandeur of these autographs. An impressive pairing of authenticated signatures to elevate any T206 collection to the next level.
