Participants from the storied 1919 World Series preside in this assembly of signed index cards and cut autographs featuring members of the “Black Sox” and Cincinnati Reds. This ephemera is headlined by a ghost-signed Joe Jackson sheet from a memo-pad. Measuring 4-3/4 x 3-1/2”, the signatory is in fact Mrs. Joe Jackson. The signature grades (“9”) while the sheet has survived the decades quite well. Also included are Signed 3x5 Index Cards: 1919 Black Sox: Benz (d.1957, “9”, added note), Danforth (d.1970, “10”), Gandil (d.1970, “9”), Leibold (d.1977, “8”), Lowdermilk (d.1968, “8”), Murphy (d.1969, “9”, added salutation), Robertson (d.1984, “9”, dated), Russell (d.1973, “9”), Shellenback (d.1969, “9”); 1919 Reds: Bressler (d.1966, “8”, career stats as inscription), Fisher (d.1982, “9”), Groh (d.1968, “8”), Kopf (d.1986, “10”), Schreiber (d.1968, “8”, GPC, added teams and note) and J. Smith (d.1974, “9”, added salutation and “Greenfield” inscription). Most of the index cards reveal negligible age toning, while five (including Gandil) exhibit minor reverse paper loss or scrapbook removal, none of which affects the signatures. Aside from Joe Jackson, the autographs on these cuts and index cards come with a COA from James Spence Authentication. The Joe Jackson ghost-signed cut autograph comes with a LOA from JSA.
