Presented is the first Hess Truck issued by the company in 1964 at the holidays, thus creating a frenzy for a wide spectrum of collectors. The 1964 issue was modeled after a Mack B-61 tanker truck and has a feature not found in any of the other Hess trucks; it came with a funnel to fill the tanker with water, which could be released through the attached delivery hose. The funnel, decals, tires, headlights and body of the truck are in excellent condition with little to no markings or scratches. The truck measures just over 12" from bumper to bumper. The truck has head and taillights, which are operated by a switch at the rear of the cab (mild wear visible on this model). The box is of the 2-piece variety, featuring refinery and service station scenes, and is colored green, white, and yellow. The bottom half of the box is solid green. The original box is in better than average condition with wonderful graphics and color. The top portion of the box still has a solid construction with mild paper loss and no tears while the bottom is missing one of the end flaps. The only drawback for collectors might be that the original instruction card is no longer with this otherwise fantastic truck. Also included is a Lucite box to prominently display the truck.
