Offered is a complete 1953 Bowman Black & White (64) card baseball set. Because Bowman over-extended their budget for the cost-prohibitive color edition, the thrifty black and white series was a cost-cutting measure. Regardless, this mixed-grade collection features a nice selection of Hall of Famers, three graded stars, a rare variation and a handful of duplicates. Spotlighted are #1 Gus Bell (GD), #15 Mize (PSA 4), #25 Sain (PSA 5), #27 Lemon (VG), #28 Wilhelm (GD-VG), #39 Stengel (GD), (2) #43 Bevan (both 1930 variations, VG, GD), #46 Harris (VG) and #61 Gorman (SGC 70). The average grade of this edition is (VG) with some better and some lesser including off-grade duplicates of #5, 6 and 35. Also included is a collector’s edition reprint set in (NM) condition. An intriguing set for the budget conscious 1950s set collector.
