“There's a long drive, it's gonna be, I believe...The Giants win the pennant!! The Giants win the pennant! The Giants win the pennant! The Giants win the pennant! Bobby Thomson hits into the lower deck of the left-field stands! The Giants win the pennant and they're going crazy, they're going crazy! Ohhhhh-oh!!!'' Even 56 years after the fact, the unbridled enthusiasm from Russ Hodges echoes as the “shot heard around the world.” This trio of signed mementos from the heroic Bobby Thomson and the unfortunate Ralph Branca is a profound remembrance of that fateful fall afternoon at the Polo Grounds. Included is a Mitchell & Ness Cooperstown Collection jersey with half of the garment displaying the New York Giants uniform, while the other half portrays the Brooklyn Dodgers. At the bottom of the Brooklyn flannel, the particulars from that afternoon are detailed in fine red embroidery. The Giant’s side of the jersey is endorsed by Thomson (“8”, Oct. 3, 1951 inscription) while Branca (“10”, The Shot Heard Around the World”) admits his role as the losing pitcher. All tagging and patches are firm and intact on this size L jersey. Also present is a dual-signed ONL White baseball autographed on the sweet spot by the tandem (Branca “10”, Thomson “9”). Additionally, an alluring 11x14 dual-signed photograph (both “10”) tracing the flight of Branca’s unfortunate pitch is also included. Equally as noteworthy as the Giant’s triumphant comeback is the life-long friendship that developed between Thomson and Branca following the game. The signatures from these historic baseball figures come with a COA from James Spence Authentications.
