From 1938 until its demise in 2002, the first college football All-Star game of the postseason was the Blue-Gray Classic, held in Montgomery, Alabama. The game pitted the top collegiate football players from states of the former confederacy against gridironers from “Yankee” colleges. This 1957-1960 Blue-Gray and East-West Shrine game football films and programs collection is an interesting documentary of the contests’ history. Showcasing talent such as Fran Tarkenton, Don Maynard, Jim Otto, Norm Snead, Alex Karras and Wahoo McDaniel, these classic games had many legends participating in them. Included are Blue-Gray Programs: 1957 (EX), 1958 (EX), 1959 (EX), 1960 (EX-MT); Game Films: Blue-Gray: 1958 (two reels); Blue-White: 1958 and East-West Shrine: 1957. With minimal rust, scratches and tape markings, the films are in excellent condition and still in their original tin containers. These historic pieces, which were distributed by various media outlets of the age, will definitely impress the vintage college football collector.
