By far the toughest of the 1950s Spic and Span Milwaukee Braves series, the 1955 Spic and Span die-cuts are even among the toughest issues for all regional sets from the era. The offered group of eleven die-cut stand-ups includes two of the three Hall of Famers from the 18-card set. All but one card, William Bruton, display small pinholes on or around the players’ heads, and the subsequent grades indicate how the card rates without the pinhole damage. The ten 7 x 7-1/2” singles with the pinhole damage are Aaron (GD/VG), Thompson (VG-EX), Mathews (VG-EX), Crandall (VG-EX), O’Connell (VG), Logan (EX), Burdette (VG), Jolly (VG), Conley (PR, missing portion of the bottom) and Adcock (PR, missing portion of the bottom). The Bruton is an outstanding example grading (NM) with no creases, folds, pinholes or erroneous markings. Almost never seen in such a large grouping, this Spic and Span near set is key for regional issues collectors.
