Coming off their World Series Championship against the Cincinnati Reds in 1970, Earl Weaver's juggernaut Baltimore Orioles were again in the Fall Classic in 1971 against the Pittsburgh Pirates. The seven games series was one of the best in memory as the Pirates bested the Orioles. Presented is a 1971 Baltimore Orioles signed team ball including twenty-nine of the players and coaches. Included on this unofficial off-white baseball are Sweet Spot: Weaver and Nieman (d.1985); North Panel: Hall, Jackson, Etchebarren, Leonhard, Richert, McNally (d.2002); South Panel: Dobson (d.2006), Motton, Davanon, Belanger (d.1998), Dalrymple, Powell, Staller (coach, d.1992), Watt; East Panel: Bamberger (coach, d.2004), Blair, D. Johnson, Buford, Baylor, Palmer; West Panel: Salmon (d.2000), Hendricks (d.2005), B. Robinson, Shopay, F. Robinson and Dukes. There is one unidentified signature on the ball on the east panel. The signatures, ball and stitching bear the signs of age as both are slightly faded, grading in the (5-6) range. COA from James Spence Authentications.
