Description

Prior to being drafted in 1969 by the Boston Celtics, Jo Jo White had already established his name in the basketball world by leading the always-prestigious University of Kansas and earning roster spots on both the United States Olympic and Pan-American Games teams. Offered is a keepsake from his 1967 Pan-American Games experience, where the United States won the gold in basketball en-route to dominating all other countries in the medal count. Held in Winnipeg, one side of the gold medal displays an etched bison, location and year, while the reverse, which is also dated, displays prominent Pan-American Game themes. Accompanied by the original band, the true gold medal, which measures slightly over 2 in diameter, makes for a superior display piece. Hailing from a two-time NBA champion, seven-time All-Star and 1975-76 NBA Finals MVP who played with USA on his chest only adds to the lore. This medal is accompanied by a Letter of Authenticity signed by Jo Jo White.
