Offered are five vintage single sheet baseball scorecards from the 19th Century with a litany of Hall of Famers present. All of the scorecards have Boston as one of the combatants, and the original owner meticulously scored all. Included are 1879 Boston Red Caps vs. Providence with G. Wright, J. O’Rourke and J.M. Ward; 1880 Boston Red Caps vs. Chicago with O’Rourke Cap Anson and Mike Kelly; 1880 Boston Red Caps vs. Troy with Mickey Welch and Roger Connor (rookie), 1880 Boston Red Caps vs. Cleveland with O’Rourke and 1881 Boston Red Caps vs. a pair of minor league clubs. The 1881 scorecard is a double-header piece and represents one of the last games ever played by George Wright and also features John Clarkson as a minor leaguer for the Beacons. The scorecards measure 5-1/2 x 7” and are in excellent condition considering the age and heavy usage associated with this medium. Ironically, each card was produced by George Wright’s bother Harry Wright, who was a famous ballplayer in his own right.
