Although Connie Mack had a losing record as a manager, the players who starred under his tutelage, along with his eight decades as a player and manager, served as a testament to his enduring legacy. Honoring the life of the "Tall Tactician", a sporting who’s who gathered in the city of Chicago for the 1954 Connie Mack Testimonial dinner. Presented are six pieces of correspondence which relate to that event. At the forefront is signed OAL and ONL letterhead by Harridge (d.1971, "9"), Giles (d.1979, "10") expressing their intentions to attend the occasion. American League Secretary Earl Hilligan (first name only) and former star Lew Fonseca (d.1989, "8", green ink) also noted their plans on OAL letterhead. Signatures from renowned Sporting News Writer, "Mr. Baseball" J.G. Taylor Spink (d.1962, "8") and leading amateur golfer Chick Evans (d.1979, "9", first name only) complete this interesting documentation. Also included is a 1911 Rose Co. unmarked baseball scorecard. Grading in (GD-VG) condition, this piece suffers only from rounded corners and moderate spine stress. This group comes with a COA from James Spence Authentications.
