The offered basketball collection contains a total of four pieces ranging from 1953 to 1965. Included are a trio of Celtics programs, highlighted by a 1954 playoff example for a game at Boston Garden between Wilt Chamberlain’s 76ers and the Celts, featuring a front cover signed by Don Nelson, John Havlicek, Dave Cowens and Tom Sanders; signatures average (“9”) on an EX program with an unscored scorecard. Also included is a 1953-54 Boston Garden program against the Knicks in EX-MT condition barring a small frontal ink stain and a 1956-57 playoff example against the Nationals, which corresponds to Bill Russell’s first year and the Celtics first World Championship, EX-MT barring a scored and detached yet included scorecard. The final piece of the lot is a signed flat wooden basketball bearing eleven names from the 1954-55 and 1955-56 Philadelphia Warriors World Champions squad, 6-1/2 inches in diameter with signatures averaging (“8”). The ball includes Arizin (d.2006), Graboski (d.1998), George (d.1989), Johnston (d.1978), Dempsey, Davis, Senesky, Brennan, Finn, Murray and Zawoluk. A truly impressive vintage basketball grouping already accompanied by a COA from James Spence Authentications.
