There is no position on the diamond most demanding than that of the catcher. Offered are (14) pieces dedicated to the great backstops of the game with (4) pieces of vintage baseball equipment, a Yogi Berra signed baseball, a 16x20 catchers multi-signed photograph and (8) signed 8x10 photos. Some of the items have been autographed by multiple players, many who are Hall of Famers with a handful adding a notation under their script. Items include 1.) a vintage chest protector signed by (8) NY Yankees with Berra ("7"), Ford ("9"), Larsen ("8" with 10-8-56 inscription), Turley ("7", 1958 Cy Young inscription), Duren ("10"), Blanchard ("8"), Silvera ("8") and Reynolds (d.1994, "3"); 2.) a vintage shin-guard with some of the best catchers in baseball history Bench ("8", HOF 89), Berra ("8", HOF 82), Lopez (d.2005, "8", HOF 1977), Ferrell (d.1995, "9", HOF 1984), Carter ("10" HOF 2003) and Fisk ("7"); 3.) an interesting Bill Dickey thrice-signed catcher's mitt (d.1993, sigs ranging from "5" to "7"); 4.) a weathered catcher's mask penned by Yogi Berra ("8"). Although these players did not actually use them, their endorsements add to the equipment's credibility and value. The remaining items include more conventional keepsakes including a single signed Berra OAL baseball (10), a very sharp signed 16x20 Greatest Catchers photograph with Berra, Ivan Rodriguez, Piazza, Bench, Fisk and Carter, and eight 8x10 signed photos with Posada, Rodriguez, Carter/Yount, Snider/Carter, Berra, Fosse, Carter and a 1978 All-Star game news service photo signed by Fisk, Morgan, Palmer and G. Foster. The group comes with an auction COA from James Spence Authentication.
