During the Great Depression, professional sports heroes were limited to basically two sports – baseball and golf. Although he had retired, Babe Ruth still dominated the scene with Bobby Jones right on his heels in the eyes of the fans. Presented is an absolutely incredible autographed baseball with nine important signatures. The signatories are located on North Panel: Babe Ruth (d.1948, “6-7”), Mickey Cochrane (d.1962, “2-3”); South Panel: Bobby Jones, Jr. (d.1971, “3”), Gene Sarazen (d.1999, “3”); East Panel: cartoonist Billy DeBeck (d.1942) with a rendering of Barney Google (a sports-oriented character); West Panel: Billy Burke (d.1972, “3”) winner of the 1931 US Open, Dizzy Dean (d.1974, “4”), Glenna Collett-Vare (d.1989, “7”) and Lawson Little (d.1968, “4”), winner of the 1940 US Open. Collett-Vare was one of the greatest female golfers of all-time, a Hall of Famer and one of the most difficult signatures to obtain among female athletes. The official Major League Simmons baseball displays several areas of leather loss but overall is a clean, lightly-toned baseball with nine incredible signatures. This unique autographed sphere comes with a full LOA from James Spence Authentications.
