The illustrious career of Tris Speaker, known affectionately as the “Grey Eagle,” spanned many great moments in baseball history. Speaker was an integral part of the 1912 World Series and Snodgrass’s miscue; he was on the Cleveland team when Ray Chapman was struck in the temple by Carl Mays, and he was on the 1928 Philadelphia Athletics with Ty Cobb when both men ended their careers. Presented is an official Reach American League Ban Johnson baseball with a bold signature of Tris Speaker on the sweet spot. Autographed baseballs of this second ballot Hall of Famer are quite difficult to locate, even more so on an official ball. The signature was scripted in black ink with “Tris” (“6”) slightly stronger that “Speaker” (“5”) in strength and clarity. The red-and-blue stitch ball is mildly toned and there are several areas with light abrasions, overall grade of (“3-4”). Let the “Grey Eagle” soar once again by adding this attractive example of Tris Speaker to your collection. COA from James Spence Authentications.
