The Twins initial season in the American League was not a resounding success, but it was enough to galvanize the Twin Cities of Minneapolis and St. Paul. Capitalizing on these popular newcomers, this 1961 Peterís Meats Twins set features (26) players who comprised the first squad. Primarily in off-grade with cards from the two available meat sizes, an abundance of star-power is present including Hall of Famer Harmon Killebrew. Key cards include #1 Versalles (FR), #7 Kaat (GD), #12 Valo (GD), #18 Killebrew (GD) and #23 Battey (GD). With a heavy wax coating protecting the surface, each card except for #6 Kralick reveals a faint staple marking. Despite that detractor, this scarce regional issue has survived the years quite well.
