A visible figure from the initial Esskay series, the youthful Don Larsen is portrayed in the midst of his freshman campaign, only two years from being etched into the pantheon of World Series lore. Despite losing twenty games for the inaugural 1954 Orioles, the grinning Californian appears none the worse for wear in this solid 1954 Esskay example in (VG-EX) condition. With a relatively clean scissor cut, this crease-free Larsen RC is free of the surface staining and hot dog toning which is often associated with this issue. Finding a 1954 Esskay example of any player in any condition is difficult enough, so when a key player such as Larsen is introduced, the excitement escalates. A truly attractive example from this exceptionally difficult Baltimore "hot dog" set.
