The New York Yankees have won twenty-six championships, but the 1961 team was special for the franchise. After a tragic loss in the 1960 World Series, the summer of ’61 was one of the best in baseball history as not one but two Yankees were chasing Ruth’s mark of 60 homeruns. This team, led by Mantle and Maris, brought the organization back to the top. Offered is a team signed 1961 World Champions New York Yankees team ball with (26) signatures, featuring sweet spot signatures of Berra (“5”) and Mantle (clubhouse, “3”); North Panel: Hale, Clevington, Sheldon, Lopez, DeMaestri, Ford (“6”), Daley; South Panel: Kubek, Turley, Cerv, Reniff, Downing, Tresh, Maris (“7”); East Panel: Boyer, Richardson, Howard (d.1980, “7”), Blanchard; West Panel: Gardner, Skowron, Terry, Stafford and Coates of the reverse sweet spot. The ball itself is a Yankees ball and is off-white with mild wear and toning, overall grade (“6-7”). The signatures grade from (“5”) to (“7”) in strength and clarity with the exception of the Mantle clubhouse. The ball comes with a full LOA from PSA/DNA.
