The Apollo 11 mission was one of the most definitive moments of the 20th Century as three Americans successfully reached the orbit of the Moon and two of them landed on the lunar surface. These brave astronauts have long been heralded for this achievement and the completion of the promise made by John F. Kennedy a decade earlier. On July 20, 1969 the lunar module landed on the moon’s surface with Commander Neil Armstrong and Lunar Module Pilot Edwin “Buzz” Aldrin with Command Module Pilot Michael Collins orbiting the moon. In the early morning hours of July 21, 1969, Armstrong stepped onto the surface of the moon and uttered the now famous words, “That’s one small step for man, one giant leap for mankind.” Presented is a very rare signed OAL Joe Cronin baseball with the signatures of these three icons of flight. The signatures are Neil Armstrong (“4”) on the east panel, Buzz Aldrin (“8”) on the north panel and Michael Collins (“9”) on the south panel. The Armstrong signature is in blue ink with both the Aldrin and Collins signatures in black ink. The ball is off-white and does exhibit toning spots on all of the panels for an overall grade of (“5-6”). Autographed items from these men are highly prized, so locating a single sphere with all three signatures is an absolutely incredible find. COA from James Spence Authentications.
