Following an illustrious career, Ty Cobb split the majority of his time between two of his favorite places, Georgia and Reno, Nevada. Most checks from the "The Georgia Peach" can be distinguished by the green ink Cobb liked to use and the locale where he signed them. The offered cancelled check is signed by Cobb in Reno, Nevada and dated to January 1955. Written to popular gambling haunt "Smith's on the Circle," the endorsement has been judged as "authentic" by PSA/DNA. The quality of this bold "Tyrus R. Cobb" penning is stunning. With no visible blemishes or obtrusions, the signature has been scripted in green ink and grades a worthy ("9"). The leading man from the "Class of 1936", this is a remarkable artifact of a revered and controversial figure.
