Arguably the most elusive of the fifties "hot dog" issues, little is known of the manner of distribution for the 1955 Felin's Franks series. Very few examples from this Philadelphia-based series have surfaced, and when they have, most are crudely cut and in lower grade. The offered Jim Owens is an exception to the rule, being more precisely cut, crease free, and without any staining. With only touched corners, a miniscule dark surface rubbing and a lightly toned back, this card grades in (VG-EX) condition. Released as part of a panel which features a Phillie on the front and respective statistics on the back, this half panel with the official contest rules had one edge compared to its present shape. Having the possibility of being more scarce than the coveted contemporary Esskay and Briggs Meats issues, this example is the ultimate type card.
