After decades of a major league void in the "Charm City", the 1954 Orioles reigned supreme in a city whose passion for baseball is unparalleled. Despite their lack of success on the field, there was no shortage of willing sponsors to capitalize on the popularity of the fledgling Orioles. Released early during the first season, the Esskay Company depicted many obscure players in their initial offering. Revered by ardent Orioles collectors, the presented 1954 Esskay panel depicting Marlin Stuart and Jim Fridley is as elusive as it is coveted. Measuring 4-1/4 x 5-1/4 this advertising panel has a significant crease between the two Orioles. The cards themselves are in (GD-VG) condition with multiple spider creases. The reverse reveals several additional minor creases which do not protrude onto the front along with hot dog toning. Both the front and reverse retain a minor wax coating which has helped protect this specimen from the elements throughout the years. Despite the jagged cut, this formidable pairing is essential for the hot dog enthusiast.
