Description

Presented is a pair of large multi-colored Wilson advertisement displays featuring stock images of various athletes. With immense multi-colored backdrops fashioned in the period "art deco" style, in probability these pieces were released in the Thirties. The first die-cut representation measures 25x26 and bares the caption "Wilson Football Equipment Is Designed And Field Tested By World Famous Coaches". Beneath the slogan, seven gridironers are depicted in an intense action sequence wearing period uniforms. A 24" movable piece featuring five of the players is affixed to the base and reveals only negligible wear. This fold-out piece is in EX-MT condition and is a poignant representation of early football. The second 13-1/2 x 24-1/2" advertisement features a golfer and football, tennis, and baseball players, circa 1931 in the art deco style. The moniker "Everything To Help Your Game" is emblazoned on the bottom while the fold-out is intact but reveals a tear. The deckle-edged bordering reveals some water staining, while the corners and edges reveal moderate wear. Grading VG-EX, this multi-sport piece is as attractive as it is elusive. This pair proves to be an interesting group from this iconic sporting goods company.
